Book of Modern Short Stories

This book of modern short stories is intended mainly for use in our college classes. The selection of the stories and the preparation of the notes and exercises have been made with this purpose in view. All the eight stories are well-known masterpieces ; they provide a lot of variety in theme, form and tone; and the are sure to appeal to the young reader. On the whole, the book is designed with a view to improving the students language skills, refining his capacity for literary appreciation and broadening and deepening his awareness in life.
