This second revised edition module is an off shoot of a series of seminar-workshops on the topic "Information Analysis through Abstracting and Indexing of Micro and Macro documents." This module has been tried in these seminars by librarians working at the technical service section of the different types of libraries in both private and public institutions. On the basis of the outcomes of the tests, some of the comments and suggestions given by the participants who attended the said seminars were incorporated. This study can be used by students, teachers, and paraprofessionals in the library and information centers.
The module on Abstracting has one new lesson on editing and evaluating the abstract, while the module on Indexing has two new lesson on types of indexes, editing and evaluating the index. Feedback test is found at the end of the lesson followed by key to corrections. A list of references and information of interest appends each lesson for further reading. In some lessons, enrichment exercises are provided to give the learner simulated hands-on experience. This guide is best used in a workshop setting through the guidance of the instructor. This book describes in fourteen easy lesson the concepts, principles, and procedures in making different types of abstracts and indexes in a self-study method of learning.
